USAID’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) initiated an investigation into allegations that six employees in the USAID/West Africa Regional Executive Office falsified overtime hours. The complaint alleged that between May 2023 and May 2024, the employees claimed approximately 1,800 hours of overtime for periods when they did not work.
OIG’s investigation involved reviews of time and attendance reports, human resources files, access logs, security logbooks, and other memoranda as well as several interviews. OIG found that the claimed overtime hours were supported by digital date and time stamps and staff interviews. OIG did not find any evidence that the employees committed overtime fraud.
