The USAID Office of Inspector General is initiating a review to identify and provide key lessons learned from our prior oversight work to inform the management of foreign assistance awards, including USAID awards transferred to the Department of State (State). Over the years, we have generated a significant body of work examining the management of U.S. foreign assistance awards. Our work has resulted in numerous findings and recommendations to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and efficacy of programs and operations; promote transparency and accountability for taxpayer funds; and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse. The key lessons learned we identify will help responsible officials at State and other foreign assistance agencies better manage these awards in the future.
The objectives of this review are to (1) summarize foreign assistance awards transferred from USAID to State and (2) identify key lessons from prior oversight work related to managing foreign assistance awards.
