Our Semiannual Report to Congress, covering the period April 1, 2020 through September 30, 2020 details audit and investigative activities and results over the period from our oversight of USAID, MCC, USADF, and IAF. This includes audit work leading to the issuance of 297 performance and financial audits covering $10.8 billion in funds. Audit work led to 175 recommendations to improve operations and programs and $40.4 million in questioned costs. Our investigative work yielded $29.3 million in recoveries, savings, and avoided costs; along with 8 prosecutorial referrals, and 38 administrative actions. We closed 53 investigations during the period.
This semiannual report also presents information on our response and oversight related to the COVID-19 pandemic, summaries of audit and investigative work and results throughout the reporting period, and descriptions of our recent outreach across Federal agencies, oversight partners, and implementers of development and humanitarian assistance to promote accountability in U.S. foreign assistance.
